how do I get paid?

Sellers may receive payment via PayPal or credit card.

"Apples" & "Oranges"

We accept payments by PayPal or by credit/debit cards directly from Buyers.

  • If a buyer checks out by PayPal, then the money you've earned from the sale will be deposited directly to your PayPal account.  Think of this as "apples".

That is why we need your PayPal account details when you sign up as a seller.

  • If a buyer checks out by direct credit/debit card payment, then the money you've earned from the sale will be deposited in your Stripe account with Upstyla.  You can make a withdrawal from your Stripe account at any time.  And the money will be transferred to your bank.  Think of this as "oranges".

If you make a withdrawal from your Stripe account, you will be asked to provide your banking information when you make a withdrawal, so that Stripe can credit the withdrawal amount to your bank.

Remember, we can't mix "apples" and "oranges" and have to keep them separate.  But they are all yours!

The money you've earned from each sale is calculated as follows:

For all sales under $70: Transaction total (including shipping) - 5% Upstyla fees (excluding shipping) - credit card processing fee (including shipping, 2.9% + $0.30 + $2.95 only on 1st sale monthly)

For all sales over $70: Transaction total (including shipping) - 5% Upstyla fees + $4.95 flat fee (excluding shipping) - credit card processing fee (including shipping, 2.9% + $0.30 +$2.95 only on 1st sale monthly)

keeping tabs

All the money due to you from sales will be shown in your seller account in real time.

Just click on my account from the top navigation:

Then go to your seller dashboard:

You will then see the money you have earned in the money link from your Sellers dashboard.  Click on the "available balance" dashboard box (gray portion).  Next click on the total revenue tab (this is "apples" plus "oranges", sum total of PayPal balance and Stripe balance):

making a withdrawal from Stripe

Remember, your PayPal balance ("apples") goes to your PayPal account directly, so you withdraw your funds through PayPal.

You can withdrawal your Stripe balance ("oranges") directly by going to your Stripe account.

You will be asked to provide your banking details, because funds will be credited to your bank:

making a withdrawal from PayPal

Occasionally, some users experience problems getting paid via PayPal.  This can happen when you have just signed up with PayPal and you haven't yet verified your PayPal account.

You need to set up and verify your PayPal account first before you can transfer funds and withdraw funds from PayPal.  This usually involves linking a credit card or debit card to your PayPal account, and linking a bank account to your PayPal account.

When you link your bank account to your PayPal account for the first time, PayPal will send two small deposits to your bank account within 2 working days.  You should log on to your bank account and make a note of the amounts, then enter these amounts in your PayPal account to verify your bank account.

If your PayPal account is already set up and verified, the money you've earned from your Upstyla shop will show up automatically in your PayPal account!
